Event Log Warnings: Event 19011

Hi,
Anyone know the cause of the following 2 event log
warning messages that continue to appear every time the
MSSQLSERVER service is started?
1.
SuperSocket info: (SpnRegister) : Error 1355.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
2.
The description for Event ID ( 19011 ) in Source (
MSSQL$NETSDK ) cannot be found. The local computer may
not have the necessary registry information or message
DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You
may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The
following information is part of the event:
(SpnRegister) : Error 1355.
Any leads would be appreciated.
Thanks,
RonBaisong,
Thank you for your reply and KB link.
I now understand what the cause of the warning messages
are, and how to deal with it.
Issue resolved. ;-))
Regards,
Ron

>|||Hi Ron,
Thank you for using MSDN Newsgroup! It's my pleasure to assist you with
your issue.
From your description, you got the following warning
SuperSocket Info: (SPNRegister) : Error 1355 and Event Category 8 / Event
ID 19011 everytime the SQL Server Service is started.
As I know, this message is not an error message. This text is only a
warning that SQL Server tries to write to the Active Directory, and
register the SPN (ServicePrincipalName or service name). The warning
indicates that it could not contact the Domain Controller to accomplish
this for security mechanism that will be used is Microsoft Windows NT
Challenge\Response (NTLM) authentication instead of Kerberos.
For detailed information about this message, please refer to:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:
80/support/kb/articles/q303/4/11.asp&NoWebContent=1
To avoid this message again, with Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3
(SP3), you can enable Kerberos authentication on server clusters. For
instructions on how to do this, see the following article in the Microsoft
Knowledge Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=319723
If you still have problems, please feel free to post new messages here and
I am ready to help!
