Excel files are too large

I have the following problem with Reporting Services:
My report has about 6500 lines and 100 columns. When I export it into Excel
the size of the end file is about 20 Mb. As I have to send it using
subscriptions, it is a problem â' too large file for e-mail. Are there any
ways to minimize the size of output Excel file?

Create a webpage containing your report, post it on the webserver, and
e-mail a link to this page to your customer.
It is faster, and more friendly designed ( and it began to be a
standard in modern distributed applications)
You also have to take care about "Garbage Collection": set an
expiration date for reports to be deleted from the webserver.

Excel.
Iâ've made a workaround: Reporting Services save the Excel file into
directory and then my program archive it and send it through e-mail. But may
be I miss some details that can optimize the size of Report?

>|||When you create the spreadsheet manually, how large is it? I just tried a
very simple sheet with no formatting and a single number per cell and it was
5 MB. The only way this would work through compression in the delivery
provider. We do not support this but there might be a 3rd party that does.

from Reporting Server, then open this 24 Mb file and save it â' it gets size
about 7 Mb. The only formatting I use are 0.5pt borders and number/date
formats.

Excel destination fails

Hi All!

I am trying to create a table destination to excel which fails with the following error that " Table cannot be created " System Error in Field definition" where as the same works in the Falt File Destination. What could be the problem?

It maybe due to the fact that excel has in built data types and column sizes attached to the columns whereas a flat file does not have that.

Try creating a table first and then map the excel columns to it to extract the records from the excel spreadsheet. When you import into a staging table, it is best to just keep the columns as varchar(255). If you have fields like remarks field that could be even bigger, you might want to customize your staging table.sql

excel data pivot/unpivot to sql server 2005 table

The following is a SAMPLE data from an excel spreadsheet. This SAMPLE data has many other fields as date. Here I have only used two date columns i.e. 28 Dec 2006 and 29 Dec 2006
This data needs to be exported into sql server 2005 table which has the fields below where I have placed the data into a table.
How can this be done please?

Excel Browser error

Hi

I'm trying to browse a cube using excel. I get through the pivot table wizrd ok but when I click finish I am getting the following error:

XML for Analysis parser: The localeidentifier property is not overwritable and cannot be assigned a new value

I get the message regardless of whether I am trying to connect to my own cubes or the Adventure Works sample. Any idea of cause & remedy please

A couple of things you may want to try.

This error seems to occur if local language is anything other than English-US

a) Refer to post http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=961463&SiteID=17. This relates to CTP2, but there are a couple of tips that may be of use.

b) Had a similar issue, & narrowed down to a conflict between AS_OLEDB Version 8 & 9 installed on same PC. Seems the upgrade to 9 doesn't clean up the old version. To resolve this, run uninstall of the existing oledb driver, go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Ole DB & delete all files in this directory if they exist, re-install AS_OLEDB 9.0.

P.S. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider (OLEDB 9.0) available at www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d09c1d60-a13c-4479-9b91-9e8b9d835cdc

exceeded access limit !?!?!?!?

i've been receiving the following error on my report server:
"The server you are attempting to access has exceeded its Client Access
License limit"
i have 45 licenses and less than 10 people accessing the report server.
so... what's going on? i have the latest service pack installed as well.
it looks like report server is not dropping connections... i also get a lot
of "connection pool timeout" errors.
what's happening here? my users are getting quite frustrated...

gives a particluar resultset.
How can I get the same resultset without using a data conversion function in
the where clause?
I want to illustrate the fact that you can achieve the same result without

database there is a table named HumanResources.JobCandidate. There is an XML
field in that table named 'Resume'. How would I retrieve say the last name

Each time I clear the event log on two of our SQL servers, I get the
following errors a few seconds later (see below). Config is as follows:

----It's chicken and egg. The reason you get the messages is because you cleared
the event log. SQLAgent monitors the event log for alerting purposes and
when you clear it, it has to try and re-establish its monitoring. However,
if you don't use SQL Agent alerts you can delete the demo alerts that are
created when you install SQL Server (they all start with Demo) and you will
no longer get these messages (because with no alerts defined there is no
reason for SQL Agent to monitor the event log)

Eventlog Warning reg SQL Tools 2005

I installed SQL Server 2005 with SQL tools on a Windows 2000 platform, and
get the following warning every 20-30 seconds.
Source is MSIInstaller, and user is ASPNET.
I reinstalled the SQL Tools, to no avail. I do not have any functional
problem with SQL Server or any installed component.
